The Irish Aviation Authority (IAA) has cleared all airports in Ireland to resume normal operations from 1pm.
The IAA said it expects operations to be normal at Irish airports for the rest of the day, but warns further bans could be imposed, depending on the ash concentrations in Irish airspace.
"Winds are forecast to continue coming from a Northerly direction for the next few days and this could lead to further problems," said a spokesperson for the IAA.
Aer Lingus will operate all flights from 1pm today, except EI 105 from Dublin to New York.
Ryanair has cancelled all flights to and from Ireland until 2pm.
Belfast International airport has cancelled all flights departing before 4.30pm, and all flights that had been due to arrive this morning have been delayed until after 1pm.
A number of flights arriving into Belfast City Airport have been cancelled, the latest at 4.40pm this afternoon. Departing flights may operate with a delay.
