Iberia is inviting passengers to bid for upgrades to its business class cabin.
The move is part of parent company IAG’s transformation plan to turn around the financial fortunes of the struggling Spanish carrier.
Under this new initiative, passengers booked into economy can check on the Iberia website to see if their flight allows bids for an upgrade to business class, which must be made within a certain price range for individual flights.
Passengers who make the highest bids will then secure the available seats in business class. Bids can be modified or cancelled up to five days before the departure date.
The upgrade will include all Iberia’s business class services including lounge access, premium check-in and fast track through airport security.
The option to bid for an upgrade will be available on certain flights and passengers will be able to make their bids through the ‘Manage your booking’ page on the Iberia website. Customers will be told within a few days of their flight whether they have secured an upgrade.
