Spanish carrier Iberia will resume its flights from London Heathrow to Montevideo from September 1, the airline has confirmed.
It has scheduled up to four weekly flights to the Uruguayan capital via Madrid, offering more than 2,300 weekly seats between the two cities.
In December 2012 Iberia announced cuts to many routes including as part of its “transformation plan” to focus on strategic and profitable routes.
As well as resuming the Montevideo route, Iberia has also confirmed it will start services again to Dominican Republic, Amsterdam, Istanbul, Athens and Stockholm.
Iberia’s director of alliances Antonio Pimentel, said: “Iberia wants to connect Uruguay and Europe. We are the leading airline between Europe and Latin America, we offer the best service, the largest network of destinations and the most efficient connections.”
