IAG has been boosted by a strong performance by British Airways and its premium cabin sales.
The company, which also owns struggling Spanish carrier Iberia, said that premium traffic was up in November by 4.7 per cent compared to the same month in 2011, while economy passenger figures rose by 3.4 per cent during the month.
Overall traffic for IAG was up by 3.6 per cent for IAG in November, as measured by RPKs (revenue passenger kilometres), with BA traffic rising by 7.6 per cent and Iberia down by 5.8 per cent.
“There is continued firmness in trends at British Airways and weakness in Spanish markets as in the previous months,” said IAG in a statement.
Meanwhile, no-frills giants Ryanair and Easyjet saw 5 per cent and 7.7 per cent increases in passengers during November. Ryanair carried 4.91 million passengers while Easyjet carried 4.1 million people last month.
