IAG has announced that Iberia and its trade unions have reached an agreement on collective redundancies for pilots and ground staff.
IAG has confirmed this “could lead to a reduction of up to 1,427 jobs” at the struggling Spanish airline.
In a statement IAG said this agreement enables Iberia to “continue with its transformation plan” to introduce permanent structural changes across the airline to reduce costs and boost profits.
In May Iberia announced it halved its losses from €202 million for the first quarter of 2013 to €111 million.
IAG confirmed the job cuts will not affect cabin crew.
