Highlands and islands airline faces "difficult trading"
Highland Airways has stopped taking bookings for future flights, blaming severe winter weather for its financial difficulties.
The airline said it is facing "difficult trading, most recently exacerbated by the severe winter weather and resultant reduced flying and reduced income".
The following statement has also appeared on the Highland Airways website: "Sorry! We are currently unable to take any bookings... please bear with us whilst we try to resolve technical difficulties."
As of today (January 25) the Inverness-based airline has not cancelled any flights.
Highland Airways said it is currently seeking new investment:"Negotiations are ongoing with a potential investor that provides an excellent way forward for the company .The outcome of all these discussions should be judged within days rather than weeks."
Highland Airways flies between Cardiff and Anglesey, Stornoway and Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides, and Oban and the Inner Hebrides. It also delivers newspapers to some Scottish islands.
