Flights to and from Greece are expected to be disrupted by a 24-hour public sector strike on Wednesday (November 6).
Greek air traffic controllers are due to take part in the industrial action for a three-hour period between 12.00 and 15.00 local time.
Some airlines such as Easyjet said they would be retiming flights on Wednesday to cope with the expected air traffic disruption.
“During these times, there will be no flights operating to and from Greece this means there is potential for some disruption with flights operating on this day,” said Easyjet in a statement.
“As a result, we have had to retime some of our flights and would like to advise our passengers to check the flight tracker before heading to the airport.”
The Foreign Office (FCO) said there would also be no ferry services in Greece for the whole of Wednesday.
“The Athens tram and some metro lines (1, 2 and 3) are expected to operate normally,” said the FCO. “Suburban and national railway will be affected for a 24-hour period. There will be no metro connection between central Athens and the airport.
“Bus and tram services in Athens will operate between 09.00 and 21.00. Traffic in Athens could be subject to considerable disruption due to closed roads and protest marches.”
