Garuda Indonesia has confirmed that its postponed Gatwick to Jakarta services will start in May 2014.
The airline had planned to launch flights on the route in November, but made the decision during the summer to postpone the service until the following summer season.
The Indonesian national carrier today (October 29) announced a new launch date of May 29 next year.
Initially, flights will operate three times a week - Monday, Thursday and Saturday - rising to five services a week from September 30.
Flight GA086 will depart Jakarta at 01.05 to arrive into Gatwick the same morning at 09.30. It will return as GA087 from Gatwick at 11.00 to reach Jakarta at 06.50 the following day.
The services will operate non-stop using B777-300ERs with three cabin classes.
Garuda has blamed the delay on starting services from Gatwick on the runway at Jakarta’s Soekarno-Hatta airport not currently meeting required standards for the use of Boeing 777-300ER aircraft.
