Flybe is to launch twice-daily flights between Leeds Bradford and Glasgow from next month, following Bmi’s decision to drop the route from April 27.
The flights will be operated by franchise partner Loganair, with twice-daily flights on weekdays starting on May 8, and an additional Sunday evening service commencing on September 2.
Glasgow airport said in a statement that the flights would enable connections to destinations including Stornoway, Kirkwall, Sumburgh, Tiree, Barra and Benbecula.
“Loganair has made a proactive decision to set the price of its fully flexible business-type tickets some 10 per cent below the fares previously charged by Bmi British Midland on the route,” added Glasgow airport.
Flights will be operated by 34-seater Saab 340B aircraft, and will depart from Glasgow at 07.10 and 17.15 on weekdays, and from Leeds Bradford at 08.45 and 18.50. The Sunday service will depart Glasgow at 17.15 and Leeds at 18.50.
