Flybe is to launch a new route from Birmingham to Knock in western Ireland.
The service will operate four days per week from October 27, the start of the airline’s 2013/14 winter season. The route will be served using a Dash8-Q400 aircraft.
Flybe has been expanding operations at Birmingham and is now the airport’s biggest scheduled carrier as measured by the number of flights, which is currently up to 636 services per week at its peak.
Niall Duffy, Flybe’s head of public affairs, said: “Given that we are already the biggest airline at Birmingham airport, when we learnt of the opportunity to offer the route it was an obvious and natural extension to our network.”
