A limited number of international flights have resumed flying to Nairobi’s international airport – a day after fire destroyed its arrivals hall.
Domestic flights restarted at Jomo Kenyatta International on Wednesday evening with some international services arriving from early today (August 8) including a Kenya Airways flight from Heathrow.
But flights to Nairobi are still subject to cancellations, delays and diversions to other airports. British Airways cancelled today’s Nairobi-Heathrow (BA64) and Heathrow-Nairobi (BA65) flights.
Authorities have yet to give any information about the cause of the fire which did not lead to any serious injuries.
“Investigations by security agencies have commenced and are ongoing. There is no reason to speculate on the causes of the fire,” said the Kenya Airports Authority, which runs the airport. “We are working round the clock to ensure normalcy of services.”
