Finnair is set to launch new direct flights between Helsinki and Tokyo-Haneda from 30 October, just weeks after Japan eased Covid-related travel restrictions.
The service will operate twice weekly in addition to the carrier’s twice-weekly connections to Tokyo-Narita.
Finnair general manager UK Ireland & Benelux, Andrew Fish, said the new service “marks a major milestone in the resumption of services to Japan and Asia”.
“We know customers will appreciate the return of the shorter northern route between Europe and Japan even with the closure of Russian airspace, and quick connections between flights at our Helsinki hub,” he added.
Flights will be operated by Airbus A350 aircraft, which feature the carrier’s new business class seating and a new premium economy cabin.
Flights depart Helsinki at 17:55, arriving into Tokyo Haneda at 14:25 the following afternoon. Return flights leave Haneda at 21:55 and arrive into the Finnish capital at 04:25 the following morning.
According to the carrier, services have been “specifically timed to allow for easy connections” between airports in London, Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.
