Finnair will expand its short-haul European network for summer 2024 with new services to Poland and increased frequencies on several routes across the UK and Ireland.
The carrier will introduce a new direct service from Helsinki and the Polish city of Wroclaw from 2 April 2024, while its Helsinki to Gdansk service will return from 31 March 2024 with 10 flights per week.
Increased frequencies are also planned for multiple routes to the UK and Ireland, with additional flights added to services to Manchester, Edinburgh and Dublin.
Direct services between Helsinki and Manchester will be increased to 12-times weekly, while flights from the Finnish capital to London Heathrow will increase to 29-times weekly next summer.
The Nordic carrier will also add an additional two weekly flights from Edinburgh to Helsinki, bringing the service up to seven times per week. Meanwhile, direct flights from Dublin will be increased from seven to 10-times weekly next summer. Flights from Dublin will also offer an extra 44 seats as the airline upgrades capacity on the route from an E190 to an A319.
Finnair chief commercial officer, Ole Orvér, said: “We are delighted to introduce Wroclaw as a new destination. It is not only a welcome addition for business travellers but also an intriguing leisure destination for people looking for a city break in a picturesque setting.
“Our expanded frequencies to the UK and Ireland are also incredibly important to Finnair’s strategy and we know these will prove popular with customers looking to plan their long-awaited summer getaways across Finland, Europe and Asia,” he added.
Additional frequencies are also set for services to the Scandinavian cities of Bergen, Billund, Stockholm, Tromso and Trondheim, while the carrier’s popular pre-pandemic Helsinki-Stockholm-Bergen connection will also be reintroduced.
The carrier also plans to increase frequencies on routes to Japan in 2024. Services from Helsinki to Osaka and Tokyo-Narita will both see an additional two weekly flights next summer, giving the routes five and six weekly flights, respectively, in addition to its existing daily Tokyo-Haneda service.
