From September Etihad Airways will double the number of flights to the fourth largest city in Iraq.
The airline currently serves Erbil twice per week, but from the beginning of September this will be increased to four times weekly.
Etihad started flights to Erbil in June 2010. By May 2011 load factors on the route had exceeded 80%, prompting the airline to increase capacity.
James Hogan, Etihad’ CEO, said the airline is committed to strengthening ties with Iraq.
“We expect to see continuing strong demand on these route, particularly from government and business travellers, as well as people from Iraq visiting family and friends around the world.”
