Emirates will be increasing capacity on its San Francisco and Houston routes on December 1 and 3 respectively, the airline has confirmed.
Both routes are currently served by a B777-300ER and will be upgraded to an A380.
The change allows for an increase of 135 additional seats to San Francisco and 137 to Houston, representing a 38 per cent increase in overall passenger capacity and 80 per cent more seats across the premium cabins.
The A380 will feature 14 first class private suites, 76 lie-flat business class seats, 399 and 401 economy seats to San Francisco and Houston respectively.
Emirates’ divisional senior vice president, commercial operations west, Hubert Frach said that there has been strong customer demand from their U.S gateways.
“Since 2007, we have carried over 2.3 million passengers on the San Francisco and Houston routes, and our flagship A380 will allow us to connect even more people and facilitate trade between these important U.S. cities and the Middle East, India, Africa and beyond,” Frach said.
