Easyjet is to stop flying on its route between Southend and Edinburgh from June 15.
The no-frills carrier, which set up a base at the Essex airport in 2012, currently flies up to five times per week on the route to Edinburgh.
“Southend continues to be a successful base for Easyjet and we will continue to focus the flying schedule there on the routes with the greatest demand,” said Easyjet in a statement.
Easyjet has continued to amend its schedule from Southend in recent months with the launch of a service to Tenerife last month and the cutting of Belfast flights from January 5.
David Lister, Southend’s operations director, added: “Since Easyjet opened its base here in March 2012, it has enjoyed huge success with some of the highest customer satisfaction levels across its European network recorded here.
“This summer they added an additional aircraft to the base and have consistently expanded the number of destinations on offer from Southend. We look forward to continuing and growing this relationship.”
