Easyjet is launching a route from Southend airport to Tenerife for the coming winter.
The no-frills carrier expects the twice-weekly service which begins on December 13 to carry more than 11,000 passengers per year.
Tenerife will be Easyjet's 16th destination from Southend although earlier this month it announced it would cancel its flights to Belfast from January 2014.
Hugh Aitken, Easyjet's UK commercial manager, said: "We have doubled the number of easy and affordable destinations available from Southend since we launched at the airport in April 2012 to ensure that there really is an ideal destination for everyone whether travelling on business or for leisure, all year round."
The introduction of Tenerife as a destination comes three months after Easyjet announced its expansion at Southend by basing a fourth aircraft at the airport and adding hree new routes to Newquay, Berlin and Krakow.
