Regional carrier Eastern Airways has announced it will
launch direct flights between Teesside and Heathrow, adding to its existing London
City route and marking its debut at the hub.
Starting 14 September, the Heathrow service will operate
daily on board a 76-seat E-Jet Embraer 170 aircraft, offering passengers from
Durham, Middlesbrough, Darlington, Hartlepool, Teesside and North Yorkshire
onward connections from the London hub.
Since lockdown restrictions within the UK have started
easing, Eastern Airways has resumed flights from Teesside to Aberdeen and
Belfast City, as well as launching new routes to London City and Newquay.
Like other airlines, Eastern Airways has implemented a new
cleaning regime, which includes an anti-bacterial wipe-down of all touch points
between every flight, as well as overnight sanitisation.
