UK regional carrier Eastern Airways is to begin operating flights between the French cities of Lorient and Lyon.
Eastern Airways, which is based at Humberside airport, will start the scheduled services from January 5, when it will offer two flights per day as well as one Sunday service in both directions.
Lorient in southern Brittany is a major agricultural and fishing centre, and is also France’s main naval base for ship construction and repairs.
Eastern Airways has been running domestic flights in France since 2010 with a base at Dijon flying to Bordeaux and Toulouse.
Kay Ryan, Eastern Airways’ commercial director, said: “We are delighted to be awarded this important contract to operate the Lorient South Brittany–Lyon Saint Exupery route.
“This is a major step forward in the development of our domestic services in France. It is built on the back of the solid foundations that we put in place in Dijon, setting up a base and domestic services in 2010 to serve the Burgundy region.”
