Flights at London City airport were disrupted this morning after a “hole” opened up in the runway.
Engineers are carrying out emergency work on the pothole which has resulted in delays and cancellations to both departing and arriving flights.
The airport said it expects to have the hole repaired by midday, but warned delays will likely continue into this afternoon.
A statement from LCY said: "Due to unexpected essential runway maintenance we are currently experiencing delays and cancellations. We are expecting to resume flights by midday.
"Passengers are advised to contact their airline for their flight status, for airline contact details click here. We apologise for any inconvenience caused."
