A chef from Torquay will plan a new menu to be served onboard British Airways’ flights in the run-up to the Olympic Games.
Michelin-starred Simon Hulstone will work with celebrity chef Heston Blumenthal to create the new dishes, which will take to the skies in February 2012.
Hulstone’s restaurant The Elephant in Torquay is best known for its British-inspired cuisine.
The Devon-based cook was picked out from a raft of chefs competing for the opportunity, as part of British Airways’ Great Britons campaign.
The airline asked British chefs to submit Olympic Games-inspired ideas for a celebratory menu to be served inflight.
BA also asked for entries in art and film categories.
Winners Pascal Anson and Prasanna Puwanarajah will be mentored by artist Tracey Emin and actor Richard E Grant to create artwork for planes and a short film to be shown on BA flights from February.
