COVENTRY AIRPORT is in the news again with the announcement by Thomsonfly sister company Hapag-Lloyd Express (HLX) that it is to open up a route to Cologne/Bonn. Hapag-Lloyd, just like Thomsonfly, is owned by TUI, the world”s largest travel and tourism group. Launch date has been set for 1 November 2004 with six services per week. Cologne/Bonn Airport has its own dedicated Deutsche-Bahn rail station with fast frequent links into central Cologne and Bonn, plus Germany”s high-speed ICE services to Berlin, D”sseldorf, Hanover and many other German cities. HLX already flies from Manchester to Cologne/Bonn and Stuttgart, and from Newcastle to Hanover as well as linking Dublin to Hamburg and Stuttgart. In the meantime Thomsonfly has changed its French ski destination from Genoble to the very well located airport at Lyon. Passengers who have already booked flights to Grenoble will be offered the choice of a full refund or priority to Lyon.
