AIR NEW ZEALAND is to introduce today (23 June) compulsory identification at check-in for domestic flights in a move that is now more and more likely to become the norm world wide. For the increasing number of customers using the airline”s self-service ExpressCheck kiosks to check-in, there will be no change to the current process. These kiosks require a form of identification - either a credit card or frequent flyer card - to operate, which acts as an in-built form of identification screening. For the next month it is discretionary but will be enforced after 28 July. Infants and children (aged up to 11 years) will not require identification, however their parent or guardian will be asked for verification of identity. Young travellers aged between 12-17 years will require identification or verification by a parent or guardian. http://www.airnewzealand.co.nz
