British Airways has announced several route and terminal changes at Heathrow for the summer 2013 season including the introduction of flights to Ibiza from the airport.
The carrier’s new Heathrow routes to Zagreb and Leeds Bradford (introduced in December as a result of slots freed up by the integration of Bmi into BA’s Heathrow operations) will both move from Terminal 1 to Terminal 5.
But the Leeds service will be reduced from four to three times-daily (combining the lunchtime and afternoon frequencies), with remaining flights “retimed to better suit business travellers with earlier morning departures in both directions”.
The new Heathrow-Leeds timetable will see flights depart from Terminal 5 at 07.55, 12.35 and 19.30, with the Leeds-Heathrow flights departing at 09.30, 15.05 and 21.15.
BA will also launch flights from Heathrow to Ibiza from April 27, joining existing services from London City and Gatwick, and new routes from Heathrow to Palma, Majorca, and Gatwick to both Lanzarote and Tenerife which will commence at the end of March.
The carrier will also drop its service to Tbilisi in Georgia at the end of March, in favour of a three-class, non-stop service to Almaty from Terminal 5 (BA currently serves the Kazakhstani city via Tbilisi from Terminal 1).
Other new routes previously announced by BA for this year include Sri Lanka and the Chinese city of Chengdu.
