Bmi Regional is to launch a Newcastle-Brussels link next spring, offering the only connection between the two cities.
The double-daily service will commence on March 3, operated by a 49-seat Embraer jet. It is Bmi’s first route from Newcastle and fares will start from £140 return including taxes and hold luggage allowance.
Newcastle is the third UK airport to be linked to the Belgian capital by Bmi, which also serves it from East Midlands and Edinburgh. The carrier, which became independent from the former Bmi in June last year, has launched more than a dozen routes this year.
“This is our first route from Newcastle International and we’re delighted to provide the only direct flight for travellers from the north east of England to the Belgian capital,” said the airline’s chief executive Cathal O’Connell.
