Bmi Regional is to drop its Aberdeen-Groningen route from next month due to drop in demand.
The carrier currently operates a three times-weekly service between the Granite City and Groningen, but this will cease on February 8.
“Bmi Regional can confirm that its service between Aberdeen and Groningen will end next month with the final flight taking place on February 8," said the airline in a statement.
“This was not a decision that was taken lightly. However, demand on the three times a week service, which was launched in 2004, has reduced significantly in recent months to the point where it simply is not viable to operate it and regrettably we have taken the decision to close the route.”
The carrier also flies from Aberdeen to Bristol, Esbjerg (Denmark), Manchester and Norwich. Bmi Regional last week announced three new routes from Birmingham to start in May 2013.
