Bmi Regional is to launch a new service between Aberdeen and Kristiansund in Norway – two major oil and gas centres.
The independent carrier will begin flights on the route from August 28 with daily weekday services using 35-seater Embraer 135 aircraft.
Bmi Regional’s CEO Cathal O’Connell said: “Our new Kristiansund route will link two important energy sector locations and we are especially pleased to be bringing the service on stream in time for Offshore Europe 2013.
“Bmi Regional has a longstanding relationship with the oil and gas industry based upon our scheduled services out of Aberdeen and the bespoke charter solutions we provide in the UK, Scandinavia and mainland Europe.”
Scotland’s energy minister Fergus Ewing added: “This new air route with Norway will be a valuable addition to Scotland’s international air connectivity helping to build business links between oil services companies in both countries. It’s good news for the economies of the north-east and Scotland as a whole.”
Flights from Aberdeen will depart at 14.00 to arrive in Kristiansund at 16.35. Although on Tuesdays (up until October 26) this service will leave Aberdeen at 07.30 to arrive in Kristiansund at 10.10.
The return service departs Kristiansund at 17.05 to arrive in Aberdeen at 17.35 – except on Tuesdays (up to October 26) when the flight leaves Norway at 18.00 for an 18.40 arrival into Aberdeen.
All flights will operate from the same times from October 27, 2013.
