Trade union CNE is planning to take legal action against Ryanair over cabin crew working conditions in Belgium.
According to the union, cabin crew are being transferred without financial compensation and not given enough notice if they are fired.
It also said the low cost carrier has been forcing cabin crew to pay €30 from their paycheck each month to pay for their uniforms.
Suits will be filed in September against both Ryanair and its recruitment agency Crewlink, in a bid to make the airline’s employment contracts confirm with Belgian law.
Ryanair, however, insists its contracts need only be governed by Irish law.
A spokeswoman for the airline said: “All Ryanair cabin crew employees operate on Irish registered aircraft, which (under European transport worker regulations) are deemed to be Irish territory, governed by Irish contracts and employment Irish law.
“They receive the full protection of the Irish constitution and the wide range of Ireland’s comprehensive labour laws.”
