BAE SYSTEMS has come to an arrangement with British European Aviation Services, based like its sister company FlyBE, at Exeter Airport. It is to design and develop a freight interior for the ATP regional turboprop aircraft. This design will differ in several respects from the E-Class ATP freight interior carried out by West Air Sweden and will mean that freight airlines looking to acquire the aircraft will have a second option for both the interior configuration and fitting centre. The key emphasis with this new interior design is for maximum flexibility to create a generalised generic freighter. Although designed primarily to allow the use of the standard ATP as a bulk freighter, the interior can also be adapted to provide a freight interior for aircraft fitted with a large freight door. The first aircraft is already at Exeter and UK CAA approval is expected later this year. http://www.bae.com
