British Airways is to increase flights from London City to Dublin following Flybe’s decision to pull out of the route.
BA will add a sixth daily weekday service on the route from June 1, the day after Flybe axes its London City-Dublin flights on May 31.
The new BA flight will depart London City at 14.40 with the return leaving Dublin at 17.15. The extra flight will only operate initially for a month in June before resuming permanently from September 1.
BA only launched the London City-Dublin route in October, 2014, when it went head-to-head with Flybe which also began services on the route during the same month.
Luke Hayhoe, BA’s commercial general manager at London City, said: “We are very pleased with our customers’ response to this important new route and delighted to have the opportunity to add an extra frequency so soon giving customers more choice and flexibility.
“Our current schedule allows us to operate the extra flight in June, which is a particularly busy month, then we will add the additional frequency permanently from September.”
