October will see British Airways shuffle the Heathrow terminals that a number of its flights depart from.
From October 30, the start of aviation’s winter season, flights to Barcelona and Madrid will leave from Terminal 5. They currently depart from Terminal 3.
A spokeswoman for the airline said BA “often takes the opportunity to change flight frequencies and timings at the season boundaries”.
“This migration will take advantage of the increased flow of traffic between Spain and the UK following the merger of British Airways and Iberia,” she said. “The vast majority of British Airways flights depart from Terminal 5 and therefore the transfer process from our Spanish flights to onward destinations will be smoother if they are housed in one terminal.”
To free up the space in T5, BA’s services to Prague, Budapest, Warsaw, Bucharest and Larnaca will move to T3.
“Our joint services with Qantas to Singapore, Sydney and Bangkok will remain at Terminal 3, along with services to Gibraltar, Lisbon, Helsinki and Vienna,” added the BA spokeswoman.
