British Airways’ hand baggage only fares are to be extended to include all short-haul flights from Gatwick, Heathrow and London City airport, the airline has confirmed.
The fares were first introduced in February 2013 for five of BA’s short-haul routes from Gatwick. This was then extended to all of BA’s 32 routes from Gatwick and then to services from Heathrow.
The discount for the five routes from Gatwick, compared to fares including checked luggage, varied between £9 and £15, depending on the route.
According toBusiness Traveller, the ‘hand baggage only’ fare is now available on all short-haul flights from Heathrow, Gatwick and London City, and in all fare classes.
Robin Glover-Faure, head of short-haul at British Airways, told Business Traveller. "The new fares have been so well-received by customers that we have now extended them to all our short-haul routes.
"We think our generous two-bag hand luggage policy is a great deal for those choosing the hand baggage only option to fly with us this summer."
Travellers choosing the “hand baggage only” fare are able to carry on cases measuring up to 56cm x 45cm x 25cm as well as a laptop bag and a handbag. For full details of BA's baggage regulations, click here.
