British Airways is celebrating the start of the 365-day countdown to the Olympics by painting One Year to Go across the belly of one of its aircraft.
Today (July 27) marks one year until the start of the London 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
An Airbus A319 aircraft used to fly route BA001, between London City and New York, bears the message.
The plane’s new markings were unveiled by Olympic Gold medalist Denise Lewis, who is a BA ambassador.
According to Garry Copeland, BA’s director of engineering, it is a first for the airline.
“This is the first time in the history of British Airways that we have branded the underbelly of an aircraft with a celebratory message,” he said.
“With the countdown underway, British Airways is preparing to welcome the world to Great Britain in 2012.”
BA is the official airline partner for the games.
