British Airways (BA) is planning to start flights from Heathrow to Bologna, Italy, next summer, as well as increase capacity to four European destinations.
The British flag carrier will fly the new Italian route daily from April 29, 2012.
BA already serves Bologna 20 times a week in the summer from Gatwick.
Barcelona, Brussels, Amsterdam and Rome have also been earmarked for expansion, with the addition of a daily flight during the peak summer season.
Starting March 25, 2012, Heathrow flights to Barcelona will increase from 56 to 63 a week, Brussels from 39 to 46, Amsterdam from 48 to 55, and Rome Fiumicino from 42 to 49 per week.
