Amsterdam Schiphol airport is working with the Dutch
government to set up a Covid-19 testing centre for passengers arriving from
high-risk areas.
According to the airport, staff will be on hand to direct
passengers to the testing centre, which will be located in Arrival Hall 3. Employees
from the Public Health Service of Kennemerland will then conduct tests for
anyone arriving from a country or region that has been given an orange or red
travel advisory by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs.
The airport said Covid-19 testing will add to the measures
already in place to “ensure that travellers can travel safely and responsibly”,
including 1.5-metre distancing guidelines, the required use of face masks throughout
the terminal, plastic screens at check-in, transfer and ticket desks, hand
sanitising stations and an enhanced cleaning regime.
Currently, the Netherlands strongly advises travellers entering
from a country with an orange or red advisory to self-isolate on arrival. They
are also being told to monitor the advisory for the country from which they
travelled; if it changes to orange or red within two weeks of their arrival
they will need to self-isolate until 14 days after they arrived.
The country follows Germany in implementing Covid-19 testing for people travelling from high-risk areas.
