Operations at the UK’s major airports have returned to normal, following a one-day walk-out by immigration staff.
UK Border Agency employees were among the public sector workers who went on strike yesterday, in protest against the government’s planned spending cuts.
Few delays were reported at Heathrow and Gatwick yesterday, with both airports using Twitter to keep passengers updated.
Today Gatwick tweeted: “It’s business as usual today.”
Heathrow was operating on a much-reduced capacity, however, after it asked airlines to halve the number of flights.
A number of carriers cancelled flights into LHR, including Etihad and Emirates.
