Plymouth City Council is conducting a review into how long Plymouth City Airport can remain open after Air Southwest stops flying.
The regional airline announced last week that it will stop all flights from Plymouth on September 14.
Plymouth Airport was due to close at the end of the year, but there are fears that the loss of Air Southwest could accelerate its closure.
A spokesman for Plymouth’s Airport’s operator and owner the Sutton Harbour Group, said it is “too early to say” whether this will be the case.
“We are currently awaiting the outcome of a review by Plymouth City Council into the viability of the airport,” he said, “following our conclusion earlier this year that we could not make it work as a commercial enterprise.
“Clearly our priority is to end uncertainty for our staff, airport users and investors as soon as possible.”
