Air France KLM and India’s Jet Airways have signed a codeshare deal to increase the choice of destinations for passengers in India and Europe respectively.
The arrangement opened for bookings from today (June 17) and applies for flights starting from Wednesday (June 19).
The deal enables Air France to market flights under AF flight numbers to key Indian cities beyond Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai.
Customers travelling from Europe to India will now be able to connect with one ticket to three new Indian domestic destinations operated by Jet Airways - to Chennai via Bangalore, Delhi and Mumbai and to Kolkata and Hyderabad via Mumbai and Bangalore.
Air France and KLM offer a total of 27 weekly long-haul flights between Europe and India.
KLM will place its KL code on Jet Airways’ domestic flights to four cities in India beyond Delhi - Bangalore, Chennai, Hyderabad, and Mumbai.
Dominique Patry, Air France’s vice-president, international affairs and alliances, said: “With the codesharing agreement with Jet Airways, we are strengthening our presence in a key market.”
Jet Airways’ chief commercial officer Sudheer Raghavan, added: “The codeshare arrangements will allow our guests the convenience of enhanced connectivity from across Air France and KLM’s networks via their European gateways in Paris and Amsterdam to key destinations across India.”
Members of Jet Airways' Jet Privilege and Air France-KLM's Flying Blue frequent flyer will now have the opportunity to earn status miles/points when travelling on the respective codeshare flights.
Last month, Air France-KLM introduced wifi and mobile connectivity aboard selected flights.
