Air Berlin has expanded its codeshare agreement with American Airlines to boost its flight connections within the US.
The new deal between the two Oneworld members means that the codeshare will cover 43 new connecting flights within the US as well as American’s new daily flight between Dusseldorf and Chicago which starts in April.
The codeshare will apply to 32 connecting destinations from American’s Chicago hub from March 23, the same date on which Air Berlin will also launch a new service from Berlin to Chicago.
Wolfgang Prock-Schauer, Air Berlin’s chief strategy and network planning officer, said: “By working closely with our Oneworld partner American Airlines, our extensive US offering is becoming even more attractive.
“In future, it will be possible to reach almost every region in the USA with an Air Berlin flight number. The linking of the route networks is a positive development for both parties and the codeshare now comprises a total of 99 routes.”
