Aer Lingus is to expand its transatlantic routes with new direct daily services from Dublin to both San Francisco and Toronto.
The Irish carrier already operates flights to Boston, Chicago, New York and Orlando, and will add San Francisco and Toronto as destinations from the summer 2014 season. The expansion means that Aer Lingus will offer 10 daily services from Ireland to North America.
Dublin to San Francisco will begin as a daily year-round service from April 2, 2014, while flights to Toronto will operate on a daily basis during next summer, starting on April 21, 2014, and then four times per week for the following winter 2014/15 season.
Aer Lingus is also to base two Boeing 757s at Shannon which will be used to increase frequencies on flights to Boston and New York.
Chief executive Christoph Mueller said: “This expansion is extremely positive news for Aer Lingus and for the broader economy in terms of business, tourism and employment.
“Our transatlantic capacity will increase by 24 per cent in 2014, following on from the 13 pent cent additional capacity in our 2013 transatlantic schedule.”
