An investigation is to be carried out after an Aer Arann plane skidded off the runway at Shannon Airport.
The incident on Sunday (July 17) involved an ATR 72-212 aircraft, which was due to land at 10.15am.
All 21 passengers and 4 crew members on board flight EI3601 from Manchester disembarked the aircraft unharmed.
According to a statement from Aer Arann, the aircraft was on its second landing attempt when it “experienced a suspected failure of the nose wheel landing gear and veered off the runway onto the grass”.
The airline has refused to speculate on the cause of the incident, and has confirmed that the Irish Aviation Authority and Air Accident Investigation Unit have been notified.
