A further 3,000 posts could disappear
Air France KLM may cut a further 3,000 jobs on top of the 3,000 it announced in April.
Pierre-Henri Gourgeon, its ceo, said the latest job losses would be through natural wastage.
When asked if there would be 3,000 more redundancies at the carrier, he told a French radio station: "It may be of that order. For a company of 100,000 people, it's a 2-3% evolution.
"It's what happened last year. It's our goal and it's based on natural departures.
"We are reviewing all options. I have nothing specific to confirm on that issue."
AF KLM, Europe's biggest airline, said in April that it planned to cut 2,500-3,000 jobs by 2011.
Since then, Air France has not been renewing short term contracts or replacing retiring workers.
In May, the carrier has announced a net loss of €814m for the year ending March, 2009.
The airline has also announced that it is seeking to raise between €571m and €6612m t o help purchase new aircraft.
It plans to raise the money through a convertible bond issue.
The French government, which is the largest single shareholder in the carriers with a stake of 15.7%, is expected to subscribe in full.
