Marriott’s Westin Hotels brand has made its UK debut with the opening of a property in the City of London financial district.
The 222-room Westin London City is located on a riverside site in central London, close to St Paul’s Cathedral and overlooking the Tate Modern and Shakespeare’s Globe theatre.
The hotel has been designed by UK architects Dexter Moren Associates around the theme of wellness. This includes the Heavenly Spa by Westin offering six treatment rooms and an indoor pool, which has been built above the archaeological remains of the historic Huggin Hill Bathhouse.
Westin London City also features two restaurants overlooking the Thames: wine bar Hithe + Seek and the all-day dining outlet Mosaic.
The hotel includes 1,060 square metres of meeting and events space, including a ballroom, which is described as offering a “fluid space” to give event organisers greater flexibility.
Jason Nuell, senior vice president, premium brands, at Marriott International, said: “The Westin London City seamlessly balances London’s captivating energy with the wellness promise that Westin Hotels & Resorts is known for, providing mindful travellers a new way to experience this iconic destination.
“As the brand’s debut in the UK, we’re excited to continue expanding our portfolio, delivering industry-leading well-being experiences designed to empower a better you.”
The hotel is also Marriott’s 1,000th property in the Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) region across all of its 30 brands.
