British business travellers are consistent when choosing a hotel for a trip with more than half choosing to stay at their favourite hotel brand even if the property isn’t conveniently located, research has found.
The study from travel management firm Egencia showed 54 per cent of business travellers always stay at the same hotel when away with work and 53 per cent of British workers will choose to stay at their favourite hotel when attending an event, regardless of organiser recommendations.
The figures from the 2015 Egencia Global Traveller Survey showed that having to pay for wifi in hotels is a travellers “greatest frustration”.
Egencia UK MD Graham Kingsmill, said: “Travelling for business, especially for frequent travellers, can be more hassle than it needs to be, so it’s no surprise that British travellers enjoy the familiarity of the same hotel or hotel brand.
“It’s therefore to be expected that substandard services create a wave of frustration amongst workers. This is something that Egencia understands and incorporates in its technology and services for business travellers and their companies. We feel it is our role to help business travellers, not just search for what they’re looking for, but find it,” he said.
The study also found hotels that can “provide an enjoyable online booking experience is essential” to attracting British business travellers.
The online study was conducted among 8,030 business travellers from June 26 to July 15.
