Staycity Group is expanding its footprint in Germany with plans to open a second Wilde aparthotel in Berlin in 2027.
The Dublin-based aparthotel operator recently signed a 20-year lease on a property at the Brooks on East development in Berlin’s Friedrichshain district.
The new Wilde property will comprise 222 apartments across two towers. The first tower, housing 116 apartments across six floors, as well as a lobby, café and bar on the ground floor, is scheduled to open in mid 2027. A second tower will feature 106 apartments across five floors along with a fitness studio.
The mixed-use Brooks on East development is located between Berlin’s Ostbahnhof railway station and Uber Arena, and is close to Berlin’s East Side Gallery. The development will also include residential, office and retail space.
Staycity launched its lifestyle Wilde brand, named after writer Oscar Wilde, in 2018 with a property in London’s Covent Garden. It now has four aparthotels in London as well as locations in Cambridge, Edinburgh, Lisbon, Manchester and Vienna. The group’s first Wilde in Berlin opened at Checkpoint Charlie in December 2019.
Andrew Fowler, chief development officer at Staycity Group, said: “Berlin is a key market for us within our European portfolio as we focus on cities that appeal equally to business and leisure travellers. With this prominent location at the East Side Gallery, a major tourist hotspot, we have secured another high-footfall site in the German capital.”
