Shangri-La, the luxury hotel group in the Asia Pacific region, has opened its 50th hotel. Located next to the Guangzhou International Convention and Exhibition Centre in Guangzhou”s business district, the property boasts extensive facilities for the business traveller, such as a 108-room business club.
Covering six of the hotel”s 36 floors ” the tallest in the city ” the Horizon Club includes the largest executive lounge in the city of Guangzhou, with panoramic views, personalised check-in, complimentary breakfast, all day refreshments and cocktails and canap”s in the evening.
A 30-minute drive from the city”s international airport ” the company claims it is the closest hotel to Bin Yun International ” the property has 704 rooms, all meeting the company”s minimum room size of 42sq m (138sq ft).
Meeting and conference facilities at the new property are the largest in any hotel in Guangzhou and for the Shangri-La group. The pillar-less pearl River Grand Ballroom spans an impressive 2,240sq m (7,350sq ft) and there are a further eight function rooms, an auditorium, three VIP greeting rooms and a bridal room that total 6,000sq m (19,680sq ft).
Surrounding the hotel are 5,800sq m (19,030sq ft) of landscaped gardens, which include a swimming pool, private putting green, walking paths and an open-air lawn area that rivals the ballroom in terms of space for outdoor events and functions.
To keep fit, guests are provided with a gym, aerobics rooms, two tennis courts and the largest indoor swimming pool in the city. For a more relaxed approach to looking good, there is also a spa with treatment rooms that have a private bathroom, dressing room, relaxation area, shower and bathing facilities. Eight of the rooms have infinity baths with colour therapy.
