GAN AIRPORT may only be a name associated with mature ex-RAF types but by the summer of next year the 2600m runway will again be fully operational as an international gateway to The Maldives complementing Mali, 300 miles to the north.
Parallel with the airport work Shangri-La, the five star hotel chain based in Hong Kong, is constructing a brand new eco-orientated 252-villa resort in Addu Atoll just a five-minute speedboat ride away.
The resort is divided into 4 distinct accommodation concepts, all connected to a central Piazza offering a range of spa and leisure activities and an array of dining and entertainment facilities.
Gan Island will also offer a soon to be completed golf course, which will be the only one in the Maldives.
