Scandic plans to open a hotel at Oslo Airport at the end of 2009.
Scandic Oslo Airport will have 250 rooms, restaurant and bar, fitness centre and conference facilities for up to 850 people. Situated to the west of the airport, the company claims it will be the closest hotel to the terminal - a shuttle bus to the airport will take approximately six minutes.
Construction will start in August, and a lease agreement has been signed with the property owner at Gardermoen amounting to NOK300m (”28.8m).
”We are keen to consolidate our position in Norway and the three hotel projects we currently have underway in strategic locations will indeed give the Scandic brand a further boost,” said Scandic president and CEO, Frank Fiskers.
In 2007, Scandic launched its growth strategy with focus on strengthening its position in the Nordic region and extending the presence to Northern and Eastern Europe and Russia.
It recently announced two other hotel projects in Norway, Forus in Stavanger and Bodo.
