Munich-based Ruby Hotels is to open its first UK property in London next year offering what it calls “lean luxury”.
The 76-room Ruby Lucy is due to open by the end of 2019, and will be housed within a new-build property on Lower Marsh, close to Waterloo station.
The Ruby Group already operates hotels in Vienna, Dusseldorf, Munich and Hamburg, and has also announced plans for a property in Zurich, as well as a hotel “in a still confidential, French-speaking location”.
The company said of the London property: “Like all our hotels, Ruby Lucy will follow the lean luxury philosophy. We consistently leave away things we deem as unimportant.
“We don’t need a restaurant or room service in a hotel that is located in the heart of the city – we’d rather show you the best hotspots in our neighbourhood to make the most of your stay. We don’t need huge rooms, because luxury can also work in confined spaces.”
