Premier Inn has revealed a new ‘no frills’ brand, with rooms reportedly starting from £19 per night.
Zip by Premier Inn will offer a “simple stay”, with each room able to be set up with a single bed, two single beds or a double.
Rooms also offer a television, small bathroom with a power shower, body wash and a towel, as well as overhead storage and hangers.
In addition to dialling back in-room amenities, Zip hotels will only offer room cleaning every three days, though guests can request daily cleaning for an extra £5 per day.
The rooms are designed to have either a small window or a ‘light box’, and guests will be randomly allocated rooms on arrival and will not be able to select which type of room they book.
Each floor of the hotel will also feature an ‘ironing room’ to provide guests with complimentary ironing facilities, and there will be six accessible rooms on the ground floor.
Communal spaces in the property will include a bar serving drinks and ‘light snacks’, workstations and booths, as well as a ‘chill-out area’ with table football and a television. Free wifi will be available throughout the hotel.
Guests can also buy breakfast in the morning for £3.95.
The first Zip by Premier Inn will open in Cardiff in March 2019. The hotel will be located next to a David Lloyd Leisure Club on Ipswich Road, about ten minutes’ drive from the city centre.
